PROPERTY AND COMMON SERVICES OFFICER
The Australian High Commission is responsible for promoting Australia's bilateral relationship with Tonga, including the conduct of official business with the Tongan Government. Australia and Tonga enjoy strong and substantial bilateral relations.
The High Commission is seeking to recruit a highly organised and enthusiastic person to manage the maintenance program for the High Commission’s properties as well as perform general administrative duties and to act as a back-up Consular and Passport Services Officer.
Specific responsibilities may include preparing and following a property maintenance schedule, contracting suppliers to carry out maintenance or repair work and prepare and maintain accurate records of works and expenditure. This role will also be responsible for arranging for the clearance of imported goods through the Customs Office and correspondence with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the arrival and departure of staff as well as the importation of duty free goods into Tonga.
Additional duties may include assisting to organise official functions, acting as backup Consular and Passports Officer and some finance and general administrative duties as required.
A good level of both English and Tongan written and spoken language is preferred. Applicants must be computer literate, including in Excel. Employment is subject to medical and security checks.
