Visas and Immigration

The Australian High Commission in Nuku’alofa no longer accepts or processes visa or immigration applications. All visa and citizenship services for clients in Tonga are now managed by the Australian High Commission in Suva, Fiji. You can apply online for most Australian visas and citizenship through an ImmiAccount. This is the preferred and most efficient way to apply. Technical assistance is available on the  ImmiAccount Technical Assistance webpage.

Providing biometrics 

You will need to provide your biometrics at the Australian Biometrics Collection Centre in Nuku'alofa,

     Ground Floor of the General Post Office
     Corner Taufa'ahau and Salote Roads,  
     Nuku'alofa, Tonga.

The Pacific Engagement Visa

The Pacific Engagement Visa ballot is now open! The ballot will close on 1 August 2024.

Before registering for the ballot, you must make sure you meet the eligibility requirements:

  • You are a citizen of a participating country and have a passport for that country
  • You are between the ages of 18 and 45
  • You were born in, or have a parent born in, an eligible country
  • You can pay the AU$25 registration fee.

You should also consider whether you can afford the associated cost/s of the visa, moving and settlement costs involved in migrating to Australia.
